Five Quick Acting DIY Blackhead Removal Masks and Scrubs
Blackheads are not easy to see, until you look up close, and then suddenly you notice a large mass of blackheads. Many people turn to commercial skin care products to remove blackheads, including scrubs, masks, and blackhead strips.
These products could help you get rid of your blackheads, but they may also do some additional damage to your skin. A gentler option is to make your own blackhead removal mask and scrub.
The following DIY blackhead removal mask and scrub recipes are easy to make and will only take a few minutes to prepare. There are five recipes that you can try using. Give each of them a try and see which one you like best.
Baking Soda and Orange Juice
This first recipe only requires two ingredients and only a few minutes of your time. The only ingredients needed are baking soda and orange juice.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons of baking soda
- 6 teaspoons of freshly squeezed orange juice
Directions
Simply combine the two ingredients and in a small bowl. The consistency should be a little bit runny. Apply the mixture directly to your face. Allow the baking soda and orange juice mixture to sit on your face for ten to twenty minutes, or at least until it has hardened.
To remove the mask, run cold water over your hands then begin rubbing your face with your fingertips. As you remove the mask, you are also scrubbing your face. This should exfoliate your skin while removing the blackheads. As the mixture dries on your face, it will help loosen your blackheads and other impurities.
When you feel that you have thoroughly scrubbed your face, you can use water to thoroughly wash the mixture from your face by bending over the sink and splashing cold water on your face. Thoroughly rinse the mixture from your face and pat your face dry. You should never rub your face dry, as your skin may still be sensitive from scrubbing your face.
As a side note, once the mask dries it will begin flaking all over the place. You should perform this in the bathroom, to avoid getting the paste on the floor or your carpeting.
Brown Sugar Scrub
This next recipe is a simple exfoliator that can help remove dead skin and blackheads. Smooth your skin and get rid of your blackheads with this easy recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of honey
Directions
Combine all three of the ingredients in a bowl. The mixture should be runny, but not too runny. You should be able to scoop out a small amount of the mixture with your fingertips and scrub on your face.
Before using this scrub, you should wash your face with warm water. Add the mixture to your clean face. Massage your face gently for five to ten minutes and then thoroughly rinse your face.
Oatmeal Blackhead Scrub
This next recipe is another quick and easy method for removing blackheads from your face. The oatmeal should help scrub your face and remove dead skin while providing a cooling effect.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of ground oatmeal powder
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
Directions
Before making this recipe, you will need to grind the oatmeal down to a powder. Mix the two ingredients together in a small bowl and then apply it to your face. The oatmeal will exfoliate your skin and remove excess oil. Massage the scrub, using gentle pressure, for about five to seven minutes. Afterward, rinse your face with cool water.
Egg White Mask
This is perhaps the easiest recipe in the list – you only need one ingredient. Eggs can be useful for removing dirt from clogged pores and pulling blackheads and whiteheads from your face. After using this mask, you will be left with clear, clean skin.
Ingredients: 2 eggs
Directions
To create an egg mask, crack open two eggs, emptying them into a small bowl. Remove the two yolks and place in a separate bowl. Whisk the yolks together and then smear the mixture on your face. Wait two minutes, for the egg yolks to dry.
Next, whisk the two egg whites together. Apply the egg whites as a second layer, over the dried egg yolks. Allow the two layers to dry for ten to fifteen minutes. The whites should be smooth and your skin should feel tight. Use warm water to thoroughly rinse the eggs from your face. You may want to gently massage your skin, as you remove the eggs. This could help remove any stray blackheads.
Baking Soda and Raw Milk
Here is another scrub that uses baking soda. Baking soda can be abrasive so you should be careful the first time you apply this scrub. Make sure that you do not experience a negative reaction to the baking soda, especially if your skin is sensitive.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons of baking soda
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons of raw milk
Directions
Combine the baking soda, lemon juice, and raw milk in a small bowl. Mix the ingredients together and then apply to your face. Make sure that you massage the scrub along your nose and chin, to remove the blackheads and whiteheads. Continue massaging for five minutes, using gentle pressures. Use circular motions when massaging. Once you finish applying the scrub, rinse your face with cool water and pat your skin dry.
